The only sound I hear at this point is the click of the keyboard The machine works quite quietly when surfing the web and basic application interactions. Seconds later, I see the desktop, and right after that, I’m downloading Steam, followed by some games I want to use to test the hardware. It’s a beautiful sight, and I can freely change the colors I see and their intensity using a small remote in the box. Turning the device slightly to my right, a light came from another light behind a glass panel, giving me a good view of the hardware on the screen. Rainbow colors spin and rotate from three circular LEDs on the face. Inside, I first saw a quick start guide that consisted of only a few steps, such as removing the padding inside the tower, making sure the cable looked good, and figuring out where to plug in peripherals.Īfter just a minute or two, I start the machine into a symphony of colors.
BUILD REDUX PC
At the top of the box is a long black carrying case that says “Welcome to PC gaming”. The cardboard shipping box is quite large, including thick padding for the tower over one and a half meters high. Also, I know that all machines come with a two-year warranty on parts and labor to replace or repair any malfunctioning hardware, as long as it’s not physically damaged.īuild Redux sent me the default “best” model for review. When my build was complete, I saw a build fee of $99. You can tweak most options, from memory and coolers to storage and power.
BUILD REDUX UPGRADE
It’s a nice card, but I could upgrade it to something better like the 3090 Ti 24GB, but it would increase my cost by $888. In my “best” option, I see that I’m getting a 10GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card. After selecting the option you want to explore, a screen shows all the components in your tower. The price difference at the moment is at a good $1,415, better at $1,879 and at best $2,259. The “better” model increased the frame rate to 110 and the “best” increased the frame rate to 145. Clicking on Apex Legends reveals a 70fps read rate for Build Redux’s “good” PC model.
When you click on a game, the frame rate appears on the box. Options include many reflex-based shooters like Call of Duty Warzone, Overwatch, and Apex Legends. You choose your top three games from a list of fifteen presets.
When you go to Build Redux’s website, you will see the option to build your PC, but not in the way you expect. One of the latest companies to explore this space is Build Redux, a sister company of Digital Storm, a longtime boutique PC maker. If you don’t want to spend time building and want someone else to piece it together, there are plenty of pre-made PC options on the market. The build took us about three hours, with only a few hiccups along the way.
